Effect of CaSO4 whiskers on the mechanical properties of t...Calcium sulfate whisker(CaSO4 whiskers), a new type of microfiber material, was used in cement matrix to increase the strength of the cement based composites. Effect of CaSO4 whiskers on the mechanical properties of the resulting cement mortar was also studied. The results showed that the flexural strength and compressive strength of the mortar specimen was improved as high as 28.3% and 8.5% by incorporating 5 wt% CaSO4 whiskers. Also, the chemical composition and structural transformation of the hardened cement matrix with CaSO4 whiskers were identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). Conclusion can be drawn that CaSO4 whiskers can effectively retard the formation and restrict the coalescence of micro-crack expansion. The interaction mechanism of CaSO4 whisker on the reinforcement is mainly on three aspects: whisker pullout, crack deflection, and crack bridging. Mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP) tests have confirmed that for 28 d cement mortar, the harmless pores increased from 9.33% to 10.62%, and the harmful pores decreased from 2.08% to 1.90%. Therefore, the whisker can optimize the pore size distribution of the resulting cement mortar.展开更多

However, the host defense mechanisms against the invasion of this pathogen are ...The soil-borne necrotrophic fungus Rhizoctonia solani is one of destructive fungi causing severe yield losses in various important crops. However, the host defense mechanisms against the invasion of this pathogen are poorly understood. In this study, we employed an i TRAQ-based quantitative proteomic approach to investigate host proteins responsive to R. solani using the resistant rice cultivar YSBR1. As a whole, we identified 319 differentially accumulated proteins(DAPs) after inoculation of rice plants with R. solani. Functional categorization analysis indicates that these DAPs cover a broad range of functions. Notably, a substantial portion of the DAPs are involved in cell redox homeostasis, carbohydrate metabolism, and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, or belong to pathogenesis-related proteins, indicating that these processes/proteins play important roles in host defense against R. solani. Interestingly, all of the DAPs involved in photosynthesis and chlorophyll biosynthetic processes, and part of the DAPs involved in phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, show reduced accumulation after R. solani infection, suggesting that R. solani probably inhibits host photosynthetic system and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis to facilitate infection and colonization. In conclusion, our results provide both valuable resources and new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying rice and R. solani interaction.展开更多

However, the ...Wall cracking and mold expanding due to concrete vibrations can be effectively solved through the application of precast normal-concrete composite shear walls infilled with self-compacting concrete(SCC). However, the high liquidity of SCC will induce a higher lateral pressure. Therefore, it is important to obtain a better understanding of the template lateral pressure. In this work, nine composite shear walls were experimentally investigated, focusing on the effects of two parameters, i.e., the casting rate and the section width of the formwork. The time-varying pressure was monitored during the SCC pouring. It is found that the increase of casting rate from 3.2 m/h to 10.3 m/h resulted in a higher maximum lateral pressure. The higher casting rate led to a longer time required for the lateral pressure to drop to a steady value. There was no correlation between the section width and the rate of decrease in the initial formwork pressure and stable value. Based on the test results, a formula considering the effect of casting speed for the calculation of SCC formwork pressure was established to fill the gap in the current standards and for engineering applications.展开更多

The introduction and utilization of international rice core germplasm is an important way to increase the genetic diversity of domestic rice varieties. We conducted a genome-wide association study on 5 panicle traits of 315 rice accessions introduced from the international rice micro-core germplasm bank. Based on the tests from Yangzhou of China and Arkansas of American, environment exhibited a significant impacts on panicle length and primary branch number, while grain length, grain width and grain length/width ratio were insensitive to environment changes. We discovered a total of 7, 5, 10, 8 and 6 chromosomal regions or single nucleotide polymorphism marker loci that were significantly associated with primary branch number, panicle length, grain length, grain width and grain length/width ratio, respectively. Among them, eleven regions were associated with grain shape and one region associated with primary branch number, showing the good consistence in two different environments. Significant linear correlation was discovered between the average trait value and the number of favorable alleles carried by the varieties in all associated loci. Among the associated loci, varieties in aromatic and tropical japonica sub-groups possessed most favorable alleles, while those in temperate japonica sub-group contained the least. The domestic varieties mainly harbored unfavorable alleles in six of the associated loci being detected. On the contrary, 15 varieties from 11 different countries harbored more favorable alleles (as many as 30 or more) than the others. Remarkably, all these 15 varieties belonged to the tropical japonica sub-group. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that varieties in the tropical japonica sub-group had high potentials for breeding stable high-yielding rice. Based on this discovery, we proposed a new approach for improving the panicle traits of domestic rice by using tropical japonica varieties.展开更多

Moderate leaf rolling is one of the most important morphological traits in rice breeding for plant ideotype.Previous studies have shown that the rl(t)gene has a high breeding potential for developing hybrid-rice varie...Moderate leaf rolling is one of the most important morphological traits in rice breeding for plant ideotype.Previous studies have shown that the rl(t)gene has a high breeding potential for developing hybrid-rice varieties with an ideal ideotype,because it leads to an appropriate leaf rolling index(LRI)of about 30%in the heterozygous state,and had a positive effect on grain yield.In this study,we isolated rl(t)and performed a preliminary investigation of its function in regulating leaf rolling in rice.DNA sequencing identified a single base change(G to T)in the finely mapped region(11 kb)containing rl(t),and this is located in 30-untranslated region(30-UTR)of the only predicted gene,Roc5(Rice outermost cell-specific).The expression level of Roc5 is significantly higher in the rl(t)mutant than in the wild-type.Using RNAi and overexpression analysis,we found that the expression level of Roc5 correlated with LRI and leaf bulliform area,and wasalso associated with leaf abaxial or adaxial rolling.These results confirmed that Roc5 controls leaf rolling in a dosage-dependent manner.Bioinformatics analysis revealed a conserved 17-nt sequence(called the GU-rich element)in the 30-UTR of HD-GL2(Homeodomain-Glabra2)family genes including Roc5.Based on the model of this element in regulating mRNA stability in mammals,we speculate that the single nucleotide change in this element accounts for the higher expression level of Roc5 in the rl(t)mutant compared to the wild-type,which ultimately leads to adaxial rolling of the leaf.This discovery further enhances our knowledge of the molecular mechanisms underlying leaf rolling in rice.展开更多
Background:The immune response in the tumor microenvironment(TME)plays a crucial role in cancer progression and recurrence.We aimed to develop an immune-related gene(IRG)signature to improve prognostic predictive powe...Background:The immune response in the tumor microenvironment(TME)plays a crucial role in cancer progression and recurrence.We aimed to develop an immune-related gene(IRG)signature to improve prognostic predictive power and reveal the immune infiltration characteristics of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC).Methods:The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)PDAC was used to construct a prognostic model as a training cohort.The International Cancer Genome Consortium(ICGC)and the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)databases were set as validation datasets.Prognostic genes were screened by using univariate Cox regression.Then,a novel optimal prognostic model was developed by using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)Cox regression.Cell type identification by estimating the relative subsets of RNA transcripts(CIBERSORT)and estimation of stromal and immune cells in malignant tumors using expression data(ESTIMATE)algorithms were used to characterize tumor immune infiltrating patterns.The tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion(TIDE)algorithm was used to predict immunotherapy responsiveness.Results:A prognostic signature based on five IRGs(MET,ERAP2,IL20RB,EREG,and SHC2)was constructed in TCGA-PDAC and comprehensively validated in ICGC and GEO cohorts.Multivariate Cox regression analysis demonstrated that this signature had an independent prognostic value.The area under the curve(AUC)values of the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve at 1,3,and 5 years of survival were 0.724,0.702,and 0.776,respectively.We further demonstrated that our signature has better prognostic performance than recently published ones and is superior to traditional clinical factors such as grade and tumor node metastasis classification(TNM)stage in predicting survival.Moreover,we found higher abundance of CD8+T cells and lower M2-like macrophages in the low-risk group of TCGA-PDAC,and predicted a higher proportion of immunotherapeutic responders in the low-risk group.Conclusions:We constructed an optimal prognostic model which had independent prognostic value and was comprehensively validated in external PDAC databases.Additionally,this five-genes signature could predict immune infiltration characteristics.Moreover,the signature helped stratify PDAC patients who might be more responsive to immunotherapy.展开更多
A metalloporphyrin-based fluorescent sensor was developed to determine the acid value in frying oil.The electronic and structural performances of iron tetraphenylporphyrin(FeTPP)were theoretically investigated using t...A metalloporphyrin-based fluorescent sensor was developed to determine the acid value in frying oil.The electronic and structural performances of iron tetraphenylporphyrin(FeTPP)were theoretically investigated using time-dependent density functional theory and density functional theory at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ level.The quantified FeTPP-based fluorescent sensor results revealed its excellent performance in discriminating different analytes.In the present work,the acid value of palm olein was determined after every single frying cycle.A total of 10 frying cycles were conducted each day for 10 consecutive days.The FeTPP-based fluorescent sensor was used to quantify the acid value,and the results were compared with the chemical data obtained by conventional titration method.The synchronous fluorescence spectrum for each sample was recorded.Parallel factor analysis was used to decompose the three-dimensional spectrum data.Then,the support vector regression(SVR),partial least squares,and back-propagation artificial neural network methods were applied to build the regression models.After the comparison of the constructed models,the SVR models exhibited the highest correlation coefficients among all models,with 0.9748 and 0.9276 for the training and test sets,respectively.The findings suggested the potential of FeTPP-based fluorescent sensor in rapid monitoring of frying oil quality and perhaps also in other foods with higher oil contents.展开更多
How to query Linked Data effectively is a challenge due to its heterogeneous datasets.There are three types of heterogeneities,i.e.,different structures representing entities,different predicates with the same meaning...How to query Linked Data effectively is a challenge due to its heterogeneous datasets.There are three types of heterogeneities,i.e.,different structures representing entities,different predicates with the same meaning and different literal formats used in objects.Approaches based on ontology mapping or Information Retrieval(IR) cannot deal with all types of heterogeneities.Facing these limitations,we propose a hierarchical multi-hop language model(HMPM).It discriminates among three types of predicates,descriptive predicates,out-associated predicates and in-associated predicates,and generates multi-hop models for them respectively.All predicates' similarities between the query and entity are organized into a hierarchy,with predicate types on the first level and predicates of this type on the second level.All candidates are ranked in ascending order.We evaluated HMPM in three datasets,DBpedia,Linked MDB and Yago.The results of experiments show that the effectiveness and generality of HMPM outperform the existing approaches.展开更多

文摘Narrow genetic background is a key limiting factor in breeding stable high-yielding rice. The introduction and utilization of international rice core germplasm is an important way to increase the genetic diversity of domestic rice varieties. We conducted a genome-wide association study on 5 panicle traits of 315 rice accessions introduced from the international rice micro-core germplasm bank. Based on the tests from Yangzhou of China and Arkansas of American, environment exhibited a significant impacts on panicle length and primary branch number, while grain length, grain width and grain length/width ratio were insensitive to environment changes. We discovered a total of 7, 5, 10, 8 and 6 chromosomal regions or single nucleotide polymorphism marker loci that were significantly associated with primary branch number, panicle length, grain length, grain width and grain length/width ratio, respectively. Among them, eleven regions were associated with grain shape and one region associated with primary branch number, showing the good consistence in two different environments. Significant linear correlation was discovered between the average trait value and the number of favorable alleles carried by the varieties in all associated loci. Among the associated loci, varieties in aromatic and tropical japonica sub-groups possessed most favorable alleles, while those in temperate japonica sub-group contained the least. The domestic varieties mainly harbored unfavorable alleles in six of the associated loci being detected. On the contrary, 15 varieties from 11 different countries harbored more favorable alleles (as many as 30 or more) than the others. Remarkably, all these 15 varieties belonged to the tropical japonica sub-group. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that varieties in the tropical japonica sub-group had high potentials for breeding stable high-yielding rice. Based on this discovery, we proposed a new approach for improving the panicle traits of domestic rice by using tropical japonica varieties.
文摘Electric vehicles(EVs)have received special consideration from modern society over the past several years.Although EVs are a fine example of environmentally friendly technology and have many advantages,they relatively increase the electricity demand upon a power grid as well.Therefore,their negative impact on busvoltage and line losses should be analyzed.In this study,the effect of EV loads and their penetration on bus voltage and line losses of an IEEE-33 bussystem has been examined via two scenarios.It is important to mention that the effect of EVs on the rate of air pollution,produced by fossil fuel electricity generators,has been investigated throughout the study.Also,the key role of demand response programs in the reduction of EVs’negative effects on the grid has also been discussed in the last scenario.Generally,the simulation of this paper provides a novel and wider perspective on EVs and their effect on grids and environmental pollution.

文摘The theoretical male body size and its distribution plan are studied in consideration with the nation standard and the information provided by several garment companies. Through nine times tries of marking two suits with the CAD marking module, the fabric length and rates are derived. The formulas of the marking fabric length, the length total, and the girth total are obtained by using SPSS software. Moreover, by comparing the two incorporation methods of cutting in which one in the arithmetic sequence and the other in the geometric sequence, it is found that the one in the arithmetic sequence is better than the one in the geometric sequence.

文摘Honeycomb composite films were prepared by breath figure method via a straightforward,one-step process by doping complex containing Eu or Sn into polystyrene-b-poly(acrylic acid) solution.Several key influencing factors,such as the concentration of the block polymer solution,the relative humidity of the environment and the amount of complexes,were investigated to control micropore size and tune film surface properties.The characteristics of the composite films were studied by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),atomic force microscopy(AFM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),ultraviolet and emission spectra.Results indicate that composite films containing Eu have excellent optical performance,and micro-patterned bowl-like SnO_(2) microparticles could be fabricated from composite films containing Sn after being calcined at 600℃ for 5 h.This general approach for the fabrication of honeycomb composite films opens a convenient and effective route to the functional modification of honeycomb films and offers new prospects for the application in miniaturized sensors,micro-reactor and catalysis.

文摘Dear Editor, An increasing number of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) have been identified and extensively used in genetics studies with advances in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and SNP arrays. However, due to frequent calling errors, the accuracy of SNPs of interest must usually be validated. In recent years, the single-nucleotide polymorphism genotyp-ing by fluorescent competitive allele-specific polymerase chain reaction (NiPTag, the commercial technology named KASP), a relatively new and powerful SNP genotyping technique, relies on a mismatched nucleotide of a primer, and the mismatched nucleotide prevents amplification of the mutated allele.

文摘Moderate leaf rolling is one of the most important morphological traits in rice breeding for plant ideotype.Previous studies have shown that the rl(t)gene has a high breeding potential for developing hybrid-rice varieties with an ideal ideotype,because it leads to an appropriate leaf rolling index(LRI)of about 30%in the heterozygous state,and had a positive effect on grain yield.In this study,we isolated rl(t)and performed a preliminary investigation of its function in regulating leaf rolling in rice.DNA sequencing identified a single base change(G to T)in the finely mapped region(11 kb)containing rl(t),and this is located in 30-untranslated region(30-UTR)of the only predicted gene,Roc5(Rice outermost cell-specific).The expression level of Roc5 is significantly higher in the rl(t)mutant than in the wild-type.Using RNAi and overexpression analysis,we found that the expression level of Roc5 correlated with LRI and leaf bulliform area,and wasalso associated with leaf abaxial or adaxial rolling.These results confirmed that Roc5 controls leaf rolling in a dosage-dependent manner.Bioinformatics analysis revealed a conserved 17-nt sequence(called the GU-rich element)in the 30-UTR of HD-GL2(Homeodomain-Glabra2)family genes including Roc5.Based on the model of this element in regulating mRNA stability in mammals,we speculate that the single nucleotide change in this element accounts for the higher expression level of Roc5 in the rl(t)mutant compared to the wild-type,which ultimately leads to adaxial rolling of the leaf.This discovery further enhances our knowledge of the molecular mechanisms underlying leaf rolling in rice.

文摘Background:The immune response in the tumor microenvironment(TME)plays a crucial role in cancer progression and recurrence.We aimed to develop an immune-related gene(IRG)signature to improve prognostic predictive power and reveal the immune infiltration characteristics of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC).Methods:The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)PDAC was used to construct a prognostic model as a training cohort.The International Cancer Genome Consortium(ICGC)and the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)databases were set as validation datasets.Prognostic genes were screened by using univariate Cox regression.Then,a novel optimal prognostic model was developed by using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)Cox regression.Cell type identification by estimating the relative subsets of RNA transcripts(CIBERSORT)and estimation of stromal and immune cells in malignant tumors using expression data(ESTIMATE)algorithms were used to characterize tumor immune infiltrating patterns.The tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion(TIDE)algorithm was used to predict immunotherapy responsiveness.Results:A prognostic signature based on five IRGs(MET,ERAP2,IL20RB,EREG,and SHC2)was constructed in TCGA-PDAC and comprehensively validated in ICGC and GEO cohorts.Multivariate Cox regression analysis demonstrated that this signature had an independent prognostic value.The area under the curve(AUC)values of the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve at 1,3,and 5 years of survival were 0.724,0.702,and 0.776,respectively.We further demonstrated that our signature has better prognostic performance than recently published ones and is superior to traditional clinical factors such as grade and tumor node metastasis classification(TNM)stage in predicting survival.Moreover,we found higher abundance of CD8+T cells and lower M2-like macrophages in the low-risk group of TCGA-PDAC,and predicted a higher proportion of immunotherapeutic responders in the low-risk group.Conclusions:We constructed an optimal prognostic model which had independent prognostic value and was comprehensively validated in external PDAC databases.Additionally,this five-genes signature could predict immune infiltration characteristics.Moreover,the signature helped stratify PDAC patients who might be more responsive to immunotherapy.

文摘A metalloporphyrin-based fluorescent sensor was developed to determine the acid value in frying oil.The electronic and structural performances of iron tetraphenylporphyrin(FeTPP)were theoretically investigated using time-dependent density functional theory and density functional theory at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ level.The quantified FeTPP-based fluorescent sensor results revealed its excellent performance in discriminating different analytes.In the present work,the acid value of palm olein was determined after every single frying cycle.A total of 10 frying cycles were conducted each day for 10 consecutive days.The FeTPP-based fluorescent sensor was used to quantify the acid value,and the results were compared with the chemical data obtained by conventional titration method.The synchronous fluorescence spectrum for each sample was recorded.Parallel factor analysis was used to decompose the three-dimensional spectrum data.Then,the support vector regression(SVR),partial least squares,and back-propagation artificial neural network methods were applied to build the regression models.After the comparison of the constructed models,the SVR models exhibited the highest correlation coefficients among all models,with 0.9748 and 0.9276 for the training and test sets,respectively.The findings suggested the potential of FeTPP-based fluorescent sensor in rapid monitoring of frying oil quality and perhaps also in other foods with higher oil contents.
文摘How to query Linked Data effectively is a challenge due to its heterogeneous datasets.There are three types of heterogeneities,i.e.,different structures representing entities,different predicates with the same meaning and different literal formats used in objects.Approaches based on ontology mapping or Information Retrieval(IR) cannot deal with all types of heterogeneities.Facing these limitations,we propose a hierarchical multi-hop language model(HMPM).It discriminates among three types of predicates,descriptive predicates,out-associated predicates and in-associated predicates,and generates multi-hop models for them respectively.All predicates' similarities between the query and entity are organized into a hierarchy,with predicate types on the first level and predicates of this type on the second level.All candidates are ranked in ascending order.We evaluated HMPM in three datasets,DBpedia,Linked MDB and Yago.The results of experiments show that the effectiveness and generality of HMPM outperform the existing approaches.
