Currently, the management of the nutrient solution is presented as a control option for fusariosis, for such reason different nutrient solutions with nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and calcium (Ca) modifications;in four saladette tomato varieties Bony Best (BB), Manapal (M), Walter (W) and FLA were evaluated in this research, in order to analyze the damage caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici (FOL) severity. Tomato plants were inoculated with 3 FOL breeds, establishing a completely random design with a factorial arrangement with six repetitions. Disease’s severity was evaluated 30 days after the inoculation using levels of (0 - 4) of the methodology established by Marlatt and Correll (1988). Afterwards, a statistical analysis was done through the Kruskal Wallis test, in which it was observed that treatments 93 (Ca 207 mg∙L-1, R3, variety BB), 95 (207 mg∙L-1 Ca, R3, variety W), 81 (0Ca, R3, BB) showed less disease severity. In the foliar analysis, the best treatments were 22 (193 mg∙L-1 N, R3, M) for N, the greatest P content was treatment 94 (207 mg∙L-1 Ca, R3, M) for K treatment three and 93 (207 mg∙L-1 Ca, R3, variety BB) greatest Ca content.展开更多

The stirring speed, temperature, pressure, and initial glucose concentration were varied between 250 - 700 rpm, 343 - 383 K, 0.5 - 2 MPa, and 0.033 - 0.133 M, respectively. To verify the absence of mass transport limitations, the diffusion of reagents in the gas-liquid interface, the liquid-solid interface, and the internal diffusion in the particles were evaluated. Under the operating conditions studied, the reaction rate showed an order with respect to H2 of 0.586 and with respect to glucose of 0.406. The kinetic data were adjusted using 3 general models and 19 different sub-models based on Langmuir-Hinshelwood-Hougen-Watson (LHHW) kinetics. Model 3a was the best one interpreting the aqueous phase hydrogenation of glucose (both reagents competitively adsorbed on the catalyst). The H2 adsorption is dissociative and the rate-limiting step is the surface chemical reaction.展开更多

Colour, pH, texture modification and chemical changes were also studied. Psychrotrophic microorganisms, sp. were modelled by the Gompertz’ equation. Lag phase duration, specific growth rate and maximum population density were calculated. The activation energy (Eµ) was calculated reaching values of 147 and 177 kJ/mol when the low permeability packaging films were employed. We used psychrotrophic microorganisms, sp., as a predictor of the shelf life of product. The application of treatment with chloride, citric and ascorbic acids, extended 1 - 2 days the storage life of the product (time to reach 106 CFU/g) when the packaging material used was polyethylene. The use of chloride, citric and ascorbic acids and vacuum packaging produced shelf life values of 7.7, >25 and >25 days at 4°C, 0°C and -1.5°C respectively. The products had very good organoleptic characteristics, maintained their colour and texture appropriate, and absence of pathogenic microorganisms. These values indicated that the growth models were acceptable for expressing the growth of microorganisms on pejerrey fillets, which can be applied to ensure the safety of fish and to establish standards for avoiding microbial contamination.展开更多

Depending on magnesium, silicon, cerium and antimony content, the as-cast microstructure showed various levels of chunky graphite in the central part of the blocks. In contrast, the microstructure of the materials after remelting and resolidification during differential thermal analysis consisted of lamellar or compacted graphite. The formation of chunky graphite in the as-cast microstructure is rationalized using an index or silicon equivalent that has been recently suggested. The differences in the microstructures after differential thermal analysis are discussed in terms of available free magnesium. Emphasis is finally put on the striking differences in characteristic size of the microstructures made of compacted graphite as compared to lamellar graphite and chunky graphite. This leads to tentative conclusions about growth of compacted and chunky graphite which would be worthy of further experimental investigations.展开更多

To asses observance of independent variable effects on all growth parameters (λ, latency time, μ, growth rate and ymax maximal growth) a slow growth strain of P. digitatum was employed. Growth curves were obtained at different conditions of temperature (10?C - 40?C), pH (3.0 - 7.0) and water activity (0.800 - 0.990) and growth parameters were calculated by fitting of logistic model. Polynomial models were made by linear regression and all terms (linear, quadratic and interactive effects) were statistically significant (p < 0.001). All growth parameters, including maximal growth were affected by environmental conditions;pH effect was more important on maximal growth than that on lag time or growth rate. In some aspects results and modeling behavior of P. digitatum, are very similar to modeling of bacterial growth.展开更多

The effect of five nitrogen fertilization (NF) treatments on protein size distribution (PSD), physical dough properties (PDP), and baking performance of the BWL was evaluated. Polymeric and monomeric proteins were evalu-ated by SE-HPLC. PDP were carried out by the National Mixograph and the TA-XT2 Texture Analyzer. Baking performance was evaluated using the straight dough method. Protein content (PC), main protein fractions (glutenins, gliadins, albumins-globulins), and mixograph development time (MDT) were significantly influenced by NF treatment and BWL but not by their interaction. On the other hand, PDP measured by the Kieffer rig, and baking performance were significantly influenced by the main factors (NF and BWL) and their interaction. The amount and timing of fertilizer applied to the BWL modified the PC, PSD, PDP, and bread loaf volume. PDP exhibited a larger variation in comparison to the PSD of glutenins. The split application of 150 kg of urea/ha (50-50-50) to all BWL showed a better loaf volume response than the same amount of urea applied at sowing (150-0-0). The application of 300 kg of urea/ha to all BWL, either at sowing or at three split applications of 100 kg of urea/ha each, resulted in higher flour unextractable polymeric protein (FUPP). On the other hand, the split application of 100-100-100 kg of urea/ha to three of the BWL represented the higher total unextractable polymeric protein (TUPP). Differences on PC and PSD were reflected on differences on PDP and bread loaf volume observed among the BWL.展开更多

The objective of this research was to determine the individual contribution of the main phenolic compounds from the papaya fruit skin and the individual contribution of main carotenoids from the pulp for total antioxidant capacity at four ripening stages;and the individual and combined radical scavenging ability used the essays DPPH (radical 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picryhydrazyl) and ABTS (radical 2, 20-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6 sulphonic acid). Phenolic acids standards for this study were ferulic (FA), caffeic (CA) and p-coumaric (pCA) acids and carotenoids studied were Lycopene, β-carotene and β-cryptoxanthin. The phenol that showed the best DPPH· and ABTS·+ radical scavenging ability was CA, with 89.47% and 92.98%, respectively. Lycopene contributed the greatest to the TAC (11.9-43.2). Lycopene also showed the best DPPH· and ABTS ·+ radical scavenging ability with 62.12% and 94.26%, respectively. Antiradical ability of phenolics and carotenoids depended on the structure of the compound and its concentration.展开更多

Participants consumed daily a yogurt containing L. reuteri CRL 1098 or a placebo for four weeks, separated by a wash-out period. Total cholesterol, triacylglycerol, high-density (HDL) and low-density (LDL) lipoprotein levels were assessed at the beginning and at the end of each period. We found a statistically significant reduction of total (–7.86 g/dl) and LDL (–7.02 g/dl) cholesterol in absolute changes (before-after) as well as a decreasing trend in the group receiving the yogurt containing L. reuteri with respect to the placebo group, without detecting changes in HDL-cholesterol and triacylglycerol levels. Our results suggest that low amounts of yogurt (125 g/day) and low doses of the CRL 1098 strain (106 CFU) are sufficient to reduce total and LDL-cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic subjects.展开更多

In fact, experimental animal models as well as in vitro studies have revealed phosphorylation disruption associated to metabolic regulation, hormone signaling, neuronal function and differentiation, cell survival and death. Due to their estrogen-mimicking ability, pesticides are considered as prime etiological suspects of increasing tumor incidence. Evidences of alterations in the signal transduction pathways involved in the tumor progression stage of pesticides were also provided. Despite progress in understanding the effect of pesticides on the human phosphorproteome and their health outcomes, it remains a complex issue to be studied. By now, the potential impact of pesticides in epigenetic phosphorylation pathways remains poorly explored. In addition, studies involving pesticides mixtures effects are needed. This review updates and provides a comprehensive discussion on the molecular and biochemical events underlying protein phosphorylation pathway disruption caused by pesticides most frequently detected in human tissues and fluids, such as organochlorine pesticides and organophosphates. The link between epidemiological studies and experimental approaches is also considered. Future challenges, such as micro-array phosphoproteome studies to complement gene expression arrays to understand the mechanisms involved in pesticide toxicology are briefly discussed.展开更多

Fe was applied using two forms (FeSO4 and Fe-EDDHA) at four doses of application (0, 25, 50 and 100 μm) added under a hydroponic system, and were tested over a period of 40 days. The Fe content was assessed in seeds, as well as the activity of antioxidant enzymes, production of H2O2, yield and nutritional quality. The results being obtained indicated that the accumulation of Fe in bean seeds enhanced with the application of Fe-EDDHA at the dose of 25 μm. This demonstrated that low Fe application dose was enough to increase Fe levels in seeds of common bean. In addition, Fe-EDDHA application form at 50 μmol was the best treatment to improve crop yield. Respect to antioxidant system, chelated form of Fe (Fe-EDDHA) was more effective in the activation of antioxidant enzymes (CAT, SOD and GSH-PX), and a lower content of H2O2 in green bean seeds. Finally, to raise the Fe concentration in bean under biofortification program was a promising strategy in cropping systems in order to increase the ingestion of iron and antioxidant capacity in the general population and provided the benefits that this element offered in human health.展开更多

The nutritional balance in the harvest is crucial for its impact on the production, quality and content of bioactive compounds. This research was carried out in the city of Aldama, Chihuahua (Mexico), where doses of mineral and organic fertilization were tested in L25 Taguchi structure with 6 factors and 5 levels by factor: nitrogen (N) 0 - 240 kg·ha-1, phosphate (P2O5) 0 - 120 kg·ha-1, potassium (K2O) 0 - 100 kg·ha-1, calcium (CaO) 0 - 400 kg·ha-1, liquid humus 0 - 3600 L·ha-1 and solid humus 0 - 8000 kg·ha-1. An average yield of 2.2 t·ha-1 was obtained;145 nuts per kilogram, 60% of the edible part of the nut. The total phenolic content was 225.9 mg gallic acid g-1 and the antioxidant capacity was 180.9 mg Trolox g-1. It is concluded that the factor with the greatest impact on yield, quality and antioxidant capacity in pecan nut was nitrogen. It was also found that the combination of mineral and organic fertilization helps to maintain the production and quality ranges of the nut. In turn, these factors contribute to the increase in the phenolic strength and antioxidant capacity. The optimal fertilization dosis to obtain the maximum levels in production of 3.2 t·ha-1;decrease the number of nuts per kilogram to 135, increase the percentage of the edible part of the nut to 61.8%, the increase in the total phenolic content to 318.6 mg of gallic acid g-1 and in the antioxidant capacity with 187.2 mg of Trolox g-1, was 184 kg·ha-1 of N, 107.4 kg·ha-1 of P2O5, 50 kg·ha-1 of K2O y 2777 L·ha-1 of liquid humus. Finally, the mineral fertilization complemented with organic fertilization is considered a good fertilization strategy for pecan trees and its possible benefits to health and the environment.展开更多

文摘Parkinsonism by unilateral,intranigralβ-sitosterolβ-D-glucoside administration in rats is distinguished in that theα-synuclein insult begins unilaterally but spreads bilaterally and increases in severity over time, thus replicating several clinical features of Parkinson’s disease,a typicalα-synucleinopathy.As Nurr1 repressesα-synuclein,we evaluated whether unilateral transfected of rNurr1-V5 transgene via neurotensin-polyplex to the substantia nigra on day 30 after unilateralβ-sitosterolβ-D-glucoside lesion could affect bilateral neuropathology and sensorimotor deficits on day 30 post-transfection.This study found that rNurr1-V5 expression but not that of the green fluorescent protein(the negative control)reducedβ-sitosterolβ-D-glucoside-induced neuropathology.Accordingly,a bilateral increase in tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells and arborization occurred in the substantia nigra and increased tyrosine hydroxylase-positive ramifications in the striatum. In addition, tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells displayed less senescence markerβ-galactosidase and more neuron-cytoskeleton markerβIII-tubulin and brain-derived neurotrophic factor.A significant decrease in activated microglia(positive to ionized calcium-binding adaptor molecule 1)and neurotoxic astrocytes(positive to glial fibrillary acidic protein and complement component 3)and increased neurotrophic astrocytes(positive to glial fibrillary acidic protein and S100 calcium-binding protein A10)also occurred in the substantia nigra. These effects followed the bilateral reduction inα-synuclein aggregates in the nigrostriatal system, improving sensorimotor behavior. Our results show that unilateral rNurr1-V5 transgene expression in nigral dopaminergic neurons mitigates bilateral neurodegeneration(senescence and loss of neuron-cytoskeleton and tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells),neuroinflammation(activated microglia, neurotoxic astrocytes),α-synuclein aggregation, and sensorimotor deficits.Increased neurotrophic astrocytes and brain-derived neurotrophic factor can mediate the rNurr1-V5 effect, supporting its potential clinical use in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

文摘This study aimed to characterize the physical-chemical and biological properties of pectin(PC)/chia seed mucilage(CM)membranes.PC/CM[100/0(control),80/20%,60/40%,and 40/60%w/w]membranes were prepared using the casting method. The membranes(PC/CM)were thin, yellow, lightly opaque(≈10%)and capable of blocking light UVB(between 66 at 52%).SEM analysis showed the presence of aggregates in the shape of a sphere(≈13μm)and ovoid(≈25μm).The proportion of 80/20 showed an increase in tensile strength(29%)and elastic modulus(19%)when compared to the control.FTIR analysis exhibited intermolecular interactions between PCPC,PC-CM,and CM-CM in the membranes. The thermal analysis(600°C)showed a slight improvement in the percentage of residual mass-loss of 3.31%(80/20)that control. The 40/60 membrane showed the lowest percentage of hemolysis(2.94%)but limited human albumin adsorption capacity. These results suggested that the blend PC/CM may be considered as a biomaterial for medical applications.
文摘The vascular fusariosis is one of the main obstacles in the tomato crop production. In the foliar analysis, the best treatments were 22 (193 mg∙L-1 N, R3, M) for N, the greatest P content was treatment 94 (207 mg∙L-1 Ca, R3, M) for K treatment three and 93 (207 mg∙L-1 Ca, R3, variety BB) greatest Ca content.
文摘The catalytic hydrogenation of D-glucose over a 3 wt% Ru/C catalyst was studied varying the operating conditions in mild conditions range to optimize the obtention of D-sorbitol. The H2 adsorption is dissociative and the rate-limiting step is the surface chemical reaction.

文摘A defined mesophilic consortium including an iron oxidizing bacterium and a sulfur oxidizing bacterium was constructed to evaluate its ability for bioleaching a flotation concentrate from Andacollo mine in Neuquén,Argentina.Experiments were performed in shake flasks with a pulp density of10%(w/v),using a basal salt medium containing ferrous iron at pH1.8.The leaching solutions were analyzed for pH,redox potential(using specifics electrodes),ferrous iron(by UV-Vis spectrophotometry)and metal concentrations(by atomic absorption spectroscopy). The results showed that the consortium was able to reduce the refractory behavior of the concentrate,allowing91.6%of gold recovery;at the same time, high dissolution of copper and zinc was reached. These dissolutions followed a shrinking core kinetic model.According to this model, the copper solubilization was controlled by diffusion through a product layer(mainly jarosite),while zinc dissolution did not show a defined control step. This designed consortium, composed of bacterial strains with specific physiological abilities, could be useful not only to optimize gold recovery but also to decrease the leachates metallic charge, which would be an environmental advantage.
文摘The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of chloride, citric and ascorbic acid dip treatments in conjunction with two types of packaging films (with high and low gas permeability) on microbial growth in samples of pejerrey fillets (Odonthestes bonaerensis) at three storage temperatures (4°C, 0°C and -1.5°C). These values indicated that the growth models were acceptable for expressing the growth of microorganisms on pejerrey fillets, which can be applied to ensure the safety of fish and to establish standards for avoiding microbial contamination.

文摘The increasing pressure from consumers and policy makers to reduce the use of synthetic polymers, whose production contributes to the depletion of non-renewable resources and are usually non-biodegradable,has prompted the efforts to find suitable bio-based sources for the production of polymers.Vegetable oils have been a frequently spotted in this search because they are versatile, highly available and a low cost liquid biosource, which can be used in the synthesis of a wide plethora of different polymers and reactive monomers.Following the same idea of reducing the environmental stress, the traditional polyurethanes that are soluble in organic solvents have been targeted for replacement, particularly in applications such as adhesives and coatings,in which the solvent is released to the atmosphere increasing the air pollution.Instead, waterborne polyurethanes(WBPU),which are polyurethane dispersions(PUD)prepared in aqueous media, release benign water to the atmosphere during use as supported or self-standing films for different applications. In this brief review, the contributions to the development of WBPUs based on vegetable oils are discussed, focusing mainly on the contributions of the last decade. The synthesis of ionic and nonionic PUDs,their characterization and the properties of the resulting dried materials,as well as derived composite materials are considered.
文摘Differential thermal analysis experiments have been performed on samples machined from Y2-blocks cast with different high-silicon spheroidal graphite irons. This leads to tentative conclusions about growth of compacted and chunky graphite which would be worthy of further experimental investigations.
文摘Growth curves fitted Penicillium digitatum were used to analyze the effect of temperature, pH and aw on their growth. In some aspects results and modeling behavior of P. digitatum, are very similar to modeling of bacterial growth.
文摘Five experimental bread wheat lines (BWL) were grown at the Yaqui Valley Experimental Station in Sonora, México during two consecutive growing cycles. Differences on PC and PSD were reflected on differences on PDP and bread loaf volume observed among the BWL.
文摘Several studies have shown that phenolic and carotenoid compounds protect against oxidative stress, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and some types of cancers. Antiradical ability of phenolics and carotenoids depended on the structure of the compound and its concentration.
文摘The effect of daily consumption of a yogurt containing Lactobacillus reuteri CRL 1098 on the lipid profile of hypercholesterolemic subjects was evaluated by performing a prospective, randomized, double-blind, cross-over placebo controlled clinical study. Our results suggest that low amounts of yogurt (125 g/day) and low doses of the CRL 1098 strain (106 CFU) are sufficient to reduce total and LDL-cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic subjects.
文摘Phosphosites in the human proteome represent an excellent source of potential biomarkers of pesticide toxicity. Future challenges, such as micro-array phosphoproteome studies to complement gene expression arrays to understand the mechanisms involved in pesticide toxicology are briefly discussed.

文摘The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of iron biofortification on antioxidant response, yield and nutritional qualityof green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) under greenhouse conditions. Finally, to raise the Fe concentration in bean under biofortification program was a promising strategy in cropping systems in order to increase the ingestion of iron and antioxidant capacity in the general population and provided the benefits that this element offered in human health.
文摘The pecan nut is considered one of the most important dried fruits in the world by its classification as healthy food. Finally, the mineral fertilization complemented with organic fertilization is considered a good fertilization strategy for pecan trees and its possible benefits to health and the environment.

文摘Upscaling perovskite solar cell fabrication is one of the key challenges in the pathway for commercialization. The slow evaporation of frequently used solvents(DMF or DMSO) limits the fast perovskite layer crystallization, hindering their implementation in large scale deposition methods.Alternatively,methylamine-based precursors have demonstrated rapid crystallization, leading to uniform and specular films.Nonetheless, their application has been limited to MAPbI3 perovskites with limited efficiency and stability. In this work,we report the requirements for stabilizing α-phase of mixed cation perovskites with high amount of formamidinium by using a methylamine-based precursor. We found that even though, there are many methods for incorporating the methylamine(MA) in precursors or films;the MA content determines stabilization of the α-phase and therefore the viscous-solution route is the only method to incorporate high amounts of MA.At low amounts of MA,perovskite tend to crystallize in 1D dimensional FA_(3)(MA)PbI5 phases due to the incomplete solvation of the PbI6-clusters.In contrast, high MA ratio induces a full solvation of the clusters, leading to a rapid crystallization and a full stabilization of the active 3D α-phase.These results open a window in the development and understanding of new precursors for the fabrication of high efficient, stable and scalable perovskite devices.
文摘BACKGROUND Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)and endoscopic ultrasound elastography(EUS-E)simulation lessens the learning curve;however, models lack realism, diminishing competitiveness.AIM To standardize the mechanical properties of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)hydrogel for simulating organs and digestive lesions.METHODS PVA hydrogel(Sigma Aldrich, degree of hydrolysis 99%)for simulating EUS/EUS-E lesions was investigated in Unidad de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico at Hospital General de México“Dr.Eduardo Liceaga”,Mexico City.We evaluated physical, contrast, elasticity and deformation coefficient characteristics in lesions, applying Kappa’s concordance and satisfaction questionnaire(Likert 4-points).RESULTS PVA hydrogel showed stable mechanical properties.Density depended on molecular weight(MW)and concentration(C).PVA bblocks with the greatest density showed lowest tensile strength(r=-0.8,P=0.01).Lesions were EUSgraphically visible.Homogeneous and heterogeneous examples were created from PVA blocks or PVA phantoms,exceeding(MW2=146000-186000,C9=15%and C10=20%)with a density under(MW1=85000-124000,C1=7%and C2=9%).We calculated elasticity and deformation parameters of solid(blue)areas, contrasting with the norm(Kappa=0.8;high degree of satisfaction).CONCLUSION PVA hydrogels were appropriate for simulating organs and digestive lesions using EUS/EUS-E,facilitating practice and reducing risk.Repetition amplified skills, while reducing the learning curve.
文摘Antibiotics are widely used in fire blight management programs, yet there are no studies that demonstrate the evaluation of their efficacy in Mexico. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the effects of the active ingredients in five commercial products(Kasumin■2L,Agrygent Plus■,Agricultural Terramycin■,Agrimicin100,and Actigard■)on fire blight suppression, and fruit yield and quality of apple(Malus domestica Borkh.)cv.Golden Glory. The experiment was conducted in a commercial orchard using a completely randomized block design, with six treatments:(1)Oxytetracycline[Ox],110 mg L^(−1);(2)Kasugamycin[Kas],4.7 mL L^(−1);(3)Oxytetracycline+Gentamicin[Ox+Gen],48 mg L^(−1)+12 mg L^(−1);(4)Streptomycin+Oxytetracycline[Str+Ox],90 mg L^(−1)+9 mg L^(−1);(5)Acibenzolar-S-methyl[ASM],70 mg L^(−1);and(6)Control,only water, with four replications, and three 11-year-old trees as an experimental unit.Variables of infection including flowers, shoots and fruits, yield and fruit quality were evaluated. All treatments suppressed infection in flowers, shoots, and fruits.ASM provided the highest levels of reduction of flower and shoot infection, while Kas had the least effect on the reduction of infection in these variables. The Ox+Gen treatment had the greatest suppression of fruit infection, and the best results on fruit yield and quality, followed by Ox and ASM.This is the first study conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the active ingredients of five commercial products used for the management of fire blight in apple trees in Mexico.
