Thank you,Mr Chairman,Good morning,Ladies and Gentlemen,I feel greatly honored to be here today.First of all,I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to the organizer of the conference for his kindness of inviting us ...Thank you,Mr Chairman,Good morning,Ladies and Gentlemen,I feel greatly honored to be here today.First of all,I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to the organizer of the conference for his kindness of inviting us the 7 old men to join in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Australian Studies Association in China.30 years ago,a small group met here in Beijing for the First International Conference of Australian Studies in China and the setting up of the Association.Ever since the Australian studies scholars in China would be able to meet regularly every other year to compare notes and exchange ideas.The Second Conference was held in Xiamen University in 1990,at which a decision was made that the Third Conference would be held jointly in Shanghai and Suzhou.This decision gave birth to the Australian Studies Centre of Soochow University.As the founding chairman of the center I thought to myself that we had to do something as our contribution to the Australian studies in China.I suddenly found that it was a good opportunity to realize my long-cherished dream,that is,to compile and publish a dictionary on Australian words and expressions.展开更多
