With the dramatic increase in video surveillance applications and public safety measures,the need for an accurate and effective system for abnormal/sus-picious activity classification also increases.Although it has multiple applications,the problem is very challenging.In this paper,a novel approach for detecting nor-mal/abnormal activity has been proposed.We used the Gaussian Mixture Model(GMM)and Kalmanfilter to detect and track the objects,respectively.After that,we performed shadow removal to segment an object and its shadow.After object segmentation we performed occlusion detection method to detect occlusion between multiple human silhouettes and we implemented a novel method for region shrinking to isolate occluded humans.Fuzzy c-mean is utilized to verify human silhouettes and motion based features including velocity and opticalflow are extracted for each identified silhouettes.Gray Wolf Optimizer(GWO)is used to optimize feature set followed by abnormal event classification that is performed using the XG-Boost classifier.This system is applicable in any surveillance appli-cation used for event detection or anomaly detection.Performance of proposed system is evaluated using University of Minnesota(UMN)dataset and UBI(Uni-versity of Beira Interior)-Fight dataset,each having different type of anomaly.The mean accuracy for the UMN and UBI-Fight datasets is 90.14%and 76.9%respec-tively.These results are more accurate as compared to other existing methods. 展开更多

The content-basedfiltering technique has been used effectively in a variety of Recommender Systems(RS).The user explicitly or implicitly provides data in the Content-Based Recommender System.The system collects this data and creates a profile for all the users,and the recommendation is generated by the user profile.The recommendation generated via content-basedfiltering is provided by observing just a single user’s profile.The primary objective of this RS is to recommend a list of movies based on the user’s preferences.A con-tent-based movie recommendation model is proposed in this research,which recommends movies based on the user’s profile from the Facebook platform.The recommendation system is built with a hybrid model that combines the Mon-arch Butterfly Optimization(MBO)with the Deep Belief Network(DBN).For feature selection,the MBO is utilized,while DBN is used for classification.The datasets used in the experiment are collected from Facebook and MovieLens.The dataset features are evaluated for performance evaluation to validate if data with various attributes can solve the matching recommendations.Eachfile is com-pared with features that prove the features will support movie recommendations.The proposed model’s mean absolute error(MAE)and root-mean-square error(RMSE)values are 0.716 and 0.915,and its precision and recall are 97.35 and 96.60 percent,respectively.Extensive tests have demonstrated the advantages of the proposed method in terms of MAE,RMSE,Precision,and Recall compared to state-of-the-art algorithms such as Fuzzy C-means with Bat algorithm(FCM-BAT),Collaborativefiltering with k-NN and the normalized discounted cumulative gain method(CF-kNN+NDCG),User profile correlation-based similarity(UPCSim),and Deep Autoencoder. 展开更多

Use of deep learning algorithms for the investigation and analysis of medical images has emerged as a powerful technique.The increase in retinal dis-eases is alarming as it may lead to permanent blindness if left untreated.Automa-tion of the diagnosis process of retinal diseases not only assists ophthalmologists in correct decision-making but saves time also.Several researchers have worked on automated retinal disease classification but restricted either to hand-crafted fea-ture selection or binary classification.This paper presents a deep learning-based approach for the automated classification of multiple retinal diseases using fundus images.For this research,the data has been collected and combined from three distinct sources.The images are preprocessed for enhancing the details.Six layers of the convolutional neural network(CNN)are used for the automated feature extraction and classification of 20 retinal diseases.It is observed that the results are reliant on the number of classes.For binary classification(healthy vs.unhealthy),up to 100%accuracy has been achieved.When 16 classes are used(treating stages of a disease as a single class),93.3%accuracy,92%sensitivity and 93%specificity have been obtained respectively.For 20 classes(treating stages of the disease as separate classes),the accuracy,sensitivity and specificity have dropped to 92.4%,92%and 92%respectively. 展开更多

The Henon map forms one of the most-studied two-dimensional discrete-time dynamical systems that exhibits chaotic behavior.The Henon map takes a point(Xn,Yn)in the plane and maps it to a new point(Xn+1,Yn+1).In this paper,a chaotic pulse generator based on the chaotic Henon map is proposed.It consists of a Henon map function subcircuit to realize the Henon map and another subcircuit to perform the iterative operation.The Henon map subcircuit comprises operational amplifiers,multipliers,delay elements and resistors,whereas,the iterative subcircuit is implemented with a simple design that comprises of an edge forming circuit followed by a monostable multivibrator and a voltage controlled switch without the use of any clock control.The proposed design can be used to realize the Henon map and also to generate a chaotic pulse train,with a controllable time interval and pulse position.The proposed circuit is implemented and simulated using Multisim 13.0 and MATLAB R2019b.The chaotic nature of the generated pulse train and also the time interval between the consecutive pulses is verified by the calculation of its Lyapunov exponents. 展开更多

A customized nutrition-rich diet plan is of utmost importance for cancer patients to intake healthy and nutritious foods that help them to be strong enough to maintain their body weight and body tissues.Consuming nutrition-rich diet foods will prevent them from the side effects caused before and after treatment thereby minimizing it.This work is proposed here to provide them with an effec-tive diet assessment plan using deep learning-based automated medical diet sys-tem.Hence,an Enhanced Long-Short Term Memory(E-LSTM)has been proposed in this paper,especially for cancer patients.This proposed method will be very useful for cancer patients as this would help them predict the foods which can be consumed by them based on the nutrition analysis of food images.The classification will be performed in E-LSTM by analyzing the two datasets,one with food images and another with cancer patients’details.Following an in-depth analysis of the major research papers concerning deep learning strategies to iden-tify the foods along with their nutrition composition,this method has been iden-tified as one of thefinest deep learning approaches that are used for classification especially.This work has been identified as thefirst work producing a new layer for feature extraction and providing nutrition suggestions,especially for cancer patients using the LSTM technique.The accuracy of prediction and classification will be improved by the dedicated layer for feature extraction in E-LSTM.Hence,it is proved that this proposed method outperforms all other existing techniques in terms of F1 Score,Precision,Recall,Classification accuracy,Training loss and Validation loss. 展开更多

The prominence of Renewable Energy Sources(RES)in the process of power generation is exponentially increased in the recent days since these sources assist in minimizing the environmental contamination.A grid-tied DFIG(Doubly Fed Induction Generator)based WECS(Wind Energy Conversion System)is introduced in this work,in which a Landsman converter is implemented to impro-vise the output voltage of PV without anyfluctuations.A novel GA(Genetic Algorithm)assisted ANN(Artificial Neural Network)is employed for tracking the Maximum power from PV.Among the rotor and grid side controllers,the for-mer is implemented by combining the statorflux with d-q reference frame and the latter is realized by the PI controller.The proposed approach delivers better per-formance in the compensation of real and reactive power along with the DC link voltage control.The controlling mechanism is verified in both MATLAB and experimental bench setupby using an emulated wind turbine for the concurrent control of DC link potential,active and reactive powers.The source current THD is observed as 1.93%and 2.4%for simulation and hardware implementation respectively. 展开更多

The study aimed to apply to Machine Learning(ML)researchers working in image processing and biomedical analysis who play an extensive role in compre-hending and performing on complex medical data,eventually improving patient care.Developing a novel ML algorithm specific to Diabetic Retinopathy(DR)is a chal-lenge and need of the hour.Biomedical images include several challenges,including relevant feature selection,class variations,and robust classification.Although the cur-rent research in DR has yielded favourable results,several research issues need to be explored.There is a requirement to look at novel pre-processing methods to discard irrelevant features,balance the obtained relevant features,and obtain a robust classi-fication.This is performed using the Steerable Kernalized Partial Derivative and Platt Scale Classifier(SKPD-PSC)method.The novelty of this method relies on the appropriate non-linear classification of exclusive image processing models in har-mony with the Platt Scale Classifier(PSC)to improve the accuracy of DR detection.First,a Steerable Filter Kernel Pre-processing(SFKP)model is applied to the Retinal Images(RI)to remove irrelevant and redundant features and extract more meaningful pathological features through Directional Derivatives of Gaussians(DDG).Next,the Partial Derivative Image Localization(PDIL)model is applied to the extracted fea-tures to localize candidate features and suppress the background noise.Finally,a Platt Scale Classifier(PSC)is applied to the localized features for robust classification.For the experiments,we used the publicly available DR detection database provided by Standard Diabetic Retinopathy(SDR),called DIARETDB0.A database of 130 image samples has been collected to train and test the ML-based classifiers.Experimental results show that the proposed method that combines the image processing and ML models can attain good detection performance with a high DR detection accu-racy rate with minimum time and complexity compared to the state-of-the-art meth-ods.The accuracy and speed of DR detection for numerous types of images will be tested through experimental evaluation.Compared to state-of-the-art methods,the method increases DR detection accuracy by 24%and DR detection time by 37. 展开更多

Suspicious fall events are particularly significant hazards for the safety of patients and elders.Recently,suspicious fall event detection has become a robust research case in real-time monitoring.This paper aims to detect suspicious fall events during video monitoring of multiple people in different moving back-grounds in an indoor environment;it is further proposed to use a deep learning method known as Long Short Term Memory(LSTM)by introducing visual atten-tion-guided mechanism along with a bi-directional LSTM model.This method contributes essential information on the temporal and spatial locations of‘suspi-cious fall’events in learning the video frame in both forward and backward direc-tions.The effective“You only look once V4”(YOLO V4)–a real-time people detection system illustrates the detection of people in videos,followed by a track-ing module to get their trajectories.Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)fea-tures are extracted for each person tracked through bounding boxes.Subsequently,a visual attention-guided Bi-directional LSTM model is proposed for the final suspicious fall event detection.The proposed method is demonstrated using two different datasets to illustrate the efficiency.The proposed method is evaluated by comparing it with other state-of-the-art methods,showing that it achieves 96.9%accuracy,good performance,and robustness.Hence,it is accep-table to monitor and detect suspicious fall events. 展开更多

Human hand detection in uncontrolled environments is a challenging visual recognition task due to numerous variations of hand poses and background image clutter.To achieve highly accurate results as well as provide real-time execution,we proposed a deep transfer learning approach over the state-of-the-art deep learning object detector.Our method,denoted as YOLOHANDS,is built on top of the You Only Look Once(YOLO)deep learning architecture,which is modified to adapt to the single class hand detection task.The model transfer is performed by modifying the higher convolutional layers including the last fully connected layer,while initializing lower non-modified layers with the generic pre-trained weights.To address robustness issues,we introduced a comprehensive augmentation procedure over the training image dataset,specifically adapted for the hand detection problem.Experimental evaluation of the proposed method,which is performed on a challenging public dataset,has demonstrated highly accurate results,comparable to the state-of-the-art methods. 展开更多

The detection of cyber threats has recently been a crucial research domain as the internet and data drive people’s livelihood.Several cyber-attacks lead to the compromise of data security.The proposed system offers complete data protection from Advanced Persistent Threat(APT)attacks with attack detection and defence mechanisms.The modified lateral movement detection algorithm detects the APT attacks,while the defence is achieved by the Dynamic Deception system that makes use of the belief update algorithm.Before termination,every cyber-attack undergoes multiple stages,with the most prominent stage being Lateral Movement(LM).The LM uses a Remote Desktop protocol(RDP)technique to authenticate the unauthorised host leaving footprints on the network and host logs.An anomaly-based approach leveraging the RDP event logs on Windows is used for detecting the evidence of LM.After extracting various feature sets from the logs,the RDP sessions are classified using machine-learning techniques with high recall and precision.It is found that the AdaBoost classifier offers better accuracy,precision,F1 score and recall recording 99.9%,99.9%,0.99 and 0.98%.Further,a dynamic deception process is used as a defence mechanism to mitigateAPTattacks.A hybrid encryption communication,dynamic(Internet Protocol)IP address generation,timing selection and policy allocation are established based on mathematical models.A belief update algorithm controls the defender’s action.The performance of the proposed system is compared with the state-of-the-art models. 展开更多

With the increase of energy consumption worldwide in several domains such as industry,education,and transportation,several technologies played an influential role in energy conservation such as the Internet of Things(IoT).In this article,we describe the design and implementation of an IoT-based energy conser-vation smart classroom system that contributes to energy conservation in the edu-cation domain.The proposed system not only allows the user to access and control IoT devices(e.g.,lights,projectors,and air conditions)in real-time,it also has the capability to aggregate the estimated energy consumption of an IoT device,the smart classroom,and the building based on the energy consumption and cost model that we propose.Moreover,the proposed model aggregates the estimated energy cost according to the Saudi Electricity Company(SEC)rates.Furthermore,the model aggregates in real-time the estimated energy conservation percentage and estimated money-saving percentage compared to data collected when the system wasn't used.The feasibility and benefits of our system have been validated on a real-world scenario which is a classroom in the college of computer science and engineering,Taibah University,Yanbu branch.The results of the experimental studies are promising in energy conservation and cost-saving when using our proposed system. 展开更多

Machine Learning Prediction Models of Optimal Time for Aortic Valve Replacement in Asymptomatic Patients

Currently,the decision of aortic valve replacement surgery time for asymptomatic patients with moderate-to-severe aortic stenosis(AS)is made by healthcare professionals based on the patient’s clinical biometric records.A delay in surgical aortic valve replacement(SAVR)can potentially affect patients’quality of life.By using ML algorithms,this study aims to predict the optimal SAVR timing and determine the enhancement in moderate-to-severe AS patient survival following surgery.This study represents a novel approach that has the potential to improve decision-making and,ultimately,improve patient outcomes.We analyze data from 176 patients with moderate-to-severe aortic stenosis who had undergone or were indicated for SAVR.We divide the data into two groups:those who died within the first year after SAVR and those who survived for more than one year or were still alive at the last follow-up.We then use six different ML algorithms,Support Vector Machine(SVM),Classification and Regression Tree(C and R tree),Generalized Linear(GL),Chi-Square Automatic Interaction Detector(CHAID),Artificial Neural Net-work(ANN),and Linear Regression(LR),to generate predictions for the best timing for SAVR.The results showed that the SVM algorithm is the best model for predicting the optimal timing for SAVR and for predicting the post-surgery survival period.By optimizing the timing of SAVR surgery using the SVM algorithm,we observed a significant improvement in the survival period after SAVR.Our study demonstrates that ML algorithms generate reliable models for predicting the optimal timing of SAVR in asymptomatic patients with moderate-to-severe AS. 展开更多

Accurate and rapid detection of fish behaviors is critical to perceive health and welfare by allowing farmers to make informed management deci-sions about recirculating the aquaculture system while decreasing labor.The classic detection approach involves placing sensors on the skin or body of the fish,which may interfere with typical behavior and welfare.The progress of deep learning and computer vision technologies opens up new opportunities to understand the biological basis of this behavior and precisely quantify behaviors that contribute to achieving accurate management in precision farming and higher production efficacy.This study develops an intelligent fish behavior classification using modified invasive weed optimization with an ensemble fusion(IFBC-MIWOEF)model.The presented IFBC-MIWOEF model focuses on identifying the distinct kinds of fish behavior classification.To accomplish this,the IFBC-MIWOEF model designs an ensemble of Deep Learning(DL)based fusion models such as VGG-19,DenseNet,and Effi-cientNet models for fish behavior classification.In addition,the hyperparam-eter tuning of the DL models is carried out using the MIWO algorithm,which is derived from the concepts of oppositional-based learning(OBL)and the IWO algorithm.Finally,the softmax(SM)layer at the end of the DL model categorizes the input into distinct fish behavior classes.The experimental validation of the IFBC-MIWOEF model is tested using fish videos,and the results are examined under distinct aspects.An Extensive comparative study pointed out the improved outcomes of the IFBC-MIWOEF model over recent approaches. 展开更多

It is well-known that attribute reduction is a crucial action of rough set.The significant characteristic of attribute reduction is that it can reduce the dimensions of data with clear semantic explanations.Normally,the learning performance of attributes in derived reduct is much more crucial.Since related measures of rough set dominate the whole process of identifying qualified attributes and deriving reduct,those measures may have a direct impact on the performance of selected attributes in reduct.However,most previous researches about attribute reduction take measures related to either supervised perspective or unsupervised perspective,which are insufficient to identify attributes with superior learning performance,such as stability and accuracy.In order to improve the classification stability and classification accuracy of reduct,in this paper,a novel measure is proposed based on the fusion of supervised and unsupervised perspectives:(1)in terms of supervised perspective,approximation quality is helpful in quantitatively characterizing the relationship between attributes and labels;(2)in terms of unsupervised perspective,conditional entropy is helpful in quantitatively describing the internal structure of data itself.In order to prove the effectiveness of the proposed measure,18 University of CaliforniaIrvine(UCI)datasets and 2 Yale face datasets have been employed in the comparative experiments.Finally,the experimental results show that the proposed measure does well in selecting attributes which can provide distinguished classification stabilities and classification accuracies. 展开更多

Nowadays,numerous applications are associated with cloud and user data gets collected globally and stored in cloud units.In addition to shared data storage,cloud computing technique offers multiple advantages for the user through different distribution designs like hybrid cloud,public cloud,community cloud and private cloud.Though cloud-based computing solutions are highly con-venient to the users,it also brings a challenge i.e.,security of the data shared.Hence,in current research paper,blockchain with data integrity authentication technique is developed for an efficient and secure operation with user authentica-tion process.Blockchain technology is utilized in this study to enable efficient and secure operation which not only empowers cloud security but also avoids threats and attacks.Additionally,the data integrity authentication technique is also uti-lized to limit the unwanted access of data in cloud storage unit.The major objec-tive of the projected technique is to empower data security and user authentication in cloud computing environment.To improve the proposed authentication pro-cess,cuckoofilter and Merkle Hash Tree(MHT)are utilized.The proposed meth-odology was validated using few performance metrics such as processing time,uploading time,downloading time,authentication time,consensus time,waiting time,initialization time,in addition to storage overhead.The proposed method was compared with conventional cloud security techniques and the outcomes establish the supremacy of the proposed method. 展开更多

Opinion Mining(OM)studies in Arabic are limited though it is one of the most extensively-spoken languages worldwide.Though the interest in OM studies in the Arabic language is growing among researchers,it needs a vast number of investigations due to the unique morphological principles of the language.Arabic OM studies experience multiple challenges owing to the poor existence of language sources and Arabic-specific linguistic features.The comparative OM studies in the English language are wide and novel.But,comparative OM studies in the Arabic language are yet to be established and are still in a nascent stage.The unique features of the Arabic language make it essential to expand the studies regarding the Arabic text.It contains unique featuressuchasdiacritics,elongation,inflectionandwordlength.Thecurrent study proposes a Political Optimizer with Probabilistic Neural Network-based Comparative Opinion Mining(POPNN-COM)model for the Arabic text.The proposed POPNN-COM model aims to recognize comparative and non-comparative texts in Arabic in the context of social media.Initially,the POPNN-COM model involves different levels of data pre-processing to transform the input data into a useful format.Then,the pre-processed data is fed into the PNN model for classification and recognition of the data under different class labels.At last,the PO algorithm is employed for fine-tuning the parameters involved in this model to achieve enhanced results.The proposed POPNN-COM model was experimentally validated using two standard datasets,and the outcomes established the promising performance of the proposed POPNN-COM method over other recent approaches. 展开更多

In thefield of diagnosis of medical images the challenge lies in tracking and identifying the defective cells and the extent of the defective region within the complex structure of a brain cavity.Locating the defective cells precisely during the diagnosis phase helps tofight the greatest exterminator of mankind.Early detec-tion of these defective cells requires an accurate computer-aided diagnostic system(CAD)that supports early treatment and promotes survival rates of patients.An ear-lier version of CAD systems relies greatly on the expertise of radiologist and it con-sumed more time to identify the defective region.The manuscript takes the efficacy of coalescing features like intensity,shape,and texture of the magnetic resonance image(MRI).In the Enhanced Feature Fusion Segmentation based classification method(EEFS)the image is enhanced and segmented to extract the prominent fea-tures.To bring out the desired effect the EEFS method uses Enhanced Local Binary Pattern(EnLBP),Partisan Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix Histogram of Oriented Gradients(PGLCMHOG),and iGrab cut method to segment image.These prominent features along with deep features are coalesced to provide a single-dimensional fea-ture vector that is effectively used for prediction.The coalesced vector is used with the existing classifiers to compare the results of these classifiers with that of the gen-erated vector.The generated vector provides promising results with commendably less computatio nal time for pre-processing and classification of MR medical images. 展开更多

Over the last decade,mobile Adhoc networks have expanded dramati-cally in popularity,and their impact on the communication sector on a variety of levels is enormous.Its uses have expanded in lockstep with its growth.Due to its instability in usage and the fact that numerous nodes communicate data concur-rently,adequate channel and forwarder selection is essential.In this proposed design for a Cognitive Radio Cognitive Network(CRCN),we gain the confidence of each forwarding node by contacting one-hop and second level nodes,obtaining reports from them,and selecting the forwarder appropriately with the use of an optimization technique.At that point,we concentrate our efforts on their channel,selection,and lastly,the transmission of data packets via the designated forwarder.The simulation work is validated in this section using the MATLAB program.Additionally,steps show how the node acts as a confident forwarder and shares the channel in a compatible method to communicate,allowing for more packet bits to be transmitted by conveniently picking the channel between them.We cal-culate the confidence of the node at the start of the network by combining the reliability report for thefirst hop and the reliability report for the secondary hop.We then refer to the same node as the confident node in order to operate as a forwarder.As a result,we witness an increase in the leftover energy in the output.The percentage of data packets delivered has also increased. 展开更多

Agriculture plays a vital role in economic development.The major pro-blem faced by the farmers are the selection of suitable crops based on environ-mental conditions such as weather,soil nutrients,etc.The farmers were following ancestral patterns,which could sometimes lead to the wrong selection of crops.In this research work,the feature selection method is adopted to improve the performance of the classification.The most relevant features from the dataset are obtained using a Probabilistic Feature Selection(PFS)approach,and classifi-cation is done using a Neural Fuzzy Classifier(NFC).Scaling Conjugate Gradient(SCG)optimization method is used to update the weights.The data set used for analysis contain various parameters such as soil characteristics,geographical loca-tion,and environmental factors such as temperature and rainfall.The proposed method recommends suitable crops for cultivation based on site-specific para-meters.Experimental result shows that the proposed method provides high accu-racy and efficiency as compared to existing methodologies. 展开更多

Diabetic Eye Disease(DED)is a fundamental cause of blindness in human beings in the medical world.Different techniques are proposed to forecast and examine the stages in Prognostication of Diabetic Retinopathy(DR).The Machine Learning(ML)and the Deep Learning(DL)algorithms are the predomi-nant techniques to project and explore the images of DR.Even though some solu-tions were adapted to challenge the cause of DR disease,still there should be an efficient and accurate DR prediction to be adapted to refine its performance.In this work,a hybrid technique was proposed for classification and prediction of DR.The proposed hybrid technique consists of Ensemble Learning(EL),2 Dimensional-Conventional Neural Network(2D-CNN),Transfer Learning(TL)and Correlation method.Initially,the Stochastic Gradient Boosting(SGB)EL method was used to predict the DR.Secondly,the boosting based EL method was used to predict the DR of images.Thirdly 2D-CNN was applied to categorize the various stages of DR images.Finally,the TL was adopted to transfer the clas-sification prediction to training datasets.When this TL was applied,a new predic-tion feature was increased.From the experiment,the proposed technique has achieved 97.8%of accuracy in prophecies of DR images and 98%accuracy in grading of images.The experiment was also extended to measure the sensitivity(99.6%)and specificity(97.3%)metrics.The predicted accuracy rate was com-pared with existing methods. 展开更多
